One of my broccoli plants has been eaten by either a rabbit squirrel or something. At the same time my Dwarf Sunflower blossom was decapitated. My garden is fenced in with a 3 foot wire fence. Can anyone tell me what critter is getting into my garden and what can I do to prevent further damage?

There are no apparent holes under the fence. If it was a chuck, won't it have come back to eat the second broccoli plant? Do squirrels eat plant stems?

Squirrels eat everything! They loved my father's Asian pears....as soon as the pears ripened, they gnawed them all! Could be a squirrel.....or a rat!

Chipmunks with eat sunflower heads and so will squirrels Thumbs down
It happens in a flash, but the memory of it last forever. It can not be borrowed or stolen, and it is of no earthly good until it is given away. So if in your hurry you meet someone who is too weary to smile, leave him one of yours, for no one needs a smile quite as much as he who has none to give...

I just posted about this product elsewhere--I just bought it because I have a problem with chipmunks. The reviews say that it works well with squirrels, cats, dogs, chickens and more! It's called a Cat Scat Mat: https://www.gardeners.com/buy/...

So if your critter isn't buggy-small, and is coming from above ground, this might be helpful. Good luck!

Other companies make and sell larger ones for people with large gardens, and they don't decay over time so they're transferable and reusable. But I think they only need to be at the base of any plants. But of course, this won't help with your bird problems!

I think I'll try aluminum pie tins tied to the fence...maybe that will help the bird problem.....

Hmmm, you just brought back a memory. In Cyprus, gardeners make pinwheels out of aluminum cans. They tie them to strings stretched between stakes. They keep ALL the birds out of their gardens!

Just found this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
