Took a hike into one of the more remote, neglected areas of our forest garden and was able to reach a favorite of mine, a 15-20 year old Mules Foot fern. It has never made baby fern which is really frustrating as the parent is a giant. The fern fronds are about 12 feet in length and grow out of a base that is no more than 12 inches high and about 18 inches wide. My hand is next to a new baby frond just starting to unfurl

Way cool!
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.
