Have any of you tried out the new metal garden hoses?

I need a 25 foot garden hose for my greenhouse. That doesn't sound at all complicated until you add in that my walk space is only about 3 feet wide and the hose has to be chummy with some deadly looking cactus (4+ inch spines) and a very rough concrete floor. I have tried expandable hoses. In fact, I requested so many replacements that the company eventually refunded my money (and suggested I not order again). And they seemed like such a great idea!

I currently have a 25 ft. black rubber hose which is so much better than a regular plastic hose (no kinks) but I have to tip-toe between the coils. I'm old - this is dangerous! I need something I can coil up and hide under a bottom shelf.

So moving on... Metal hoses. Has anyone tried them? They look SO promising (but so did the expandable hose). If I order one, I am going to order through Amazon so I don't have to fight to get my money back when it fails. (This is my version of positive thinking).

Anyone have thoughts?

I never even knew there was such a thing as metal hoses! I wouldn't use one because our hoses are outside and I don't want to get burnt touching a metal hose but I sure will be curious to hear what others have to say about them!

Be careful with those hose snakes in your greenhouse!

The ads on TV say the hose doesn't get too hot to handle. Is that their too hot? Or my too hot? Smiling

I have not tried one myself , but I can tell you they are selling very well and so far I am not seeing returns like we see on the expandable. They are also much lighter then I would have thought.

Daisy, will you let us know what you think of the hose once it arrives? I just googled and it sure looks interesting. I love the idea of a non-kink hose and could use one for my atrium area. I'm thinking of ordering one on Amazon but will check Walmart, Lowes and Home Depot first because I think they all might carry them.

I was eyeing those too for my greenhouse. I am always in search of a compact hose that won't get tangled up in all the paraphernalia littering the floor and every surface in my tiny greenhouse! Please let us know how it pans out.

I saw the ad on TV last winter, they ran a dollar a foot plus shipping, but I noticed they came in 25', 50', and 75', which is a plus.
Let us know about price, too.

Wow. Good timing. I just came back from our local Walmart.
The 50-foot metal hose price has been reduced from $39 to $29.
Sounds like a good deal.

Sounds like a GREAT deal. The price reduction worries me though. Confused Worst hose ever? No one is willing to take the chance so we will pull in a few suckers that will spread the word?

If the metal hose is still available when I receive my next Social Security check I could buy one and give it a trial. Thumbs up

Hi Daisey
I was at Walmart this morning, saw and bought the metal hose [and 6 rescue mandevilla vines]. I'm home, the hose is hooked up, I watered a few pots and - first impression - love it. It was $39.99 for 50 feet.. Really light and came with its own plastic nozzle and an extra rubber washer. My hope for this hose is longevity.

I got my metal hose today. Hurray!

First impression? This is going to be GREAT! Lovey dubby

I went out and watered my cactus with my favorite 3 foot long, adjustable nozzle and it worked great. Its really small and bendy - it will tuck nicely under the lowest bench. I laid it on my kitchen floor (18 inch tiles) and along side my old 25 foot rubber hose. See for yourself.

I was telling my husband about these and he said our washer hoses have been just like this for years. I checked, and sure enough, they are the same. I may need a few of them too.

Keep us posted in a couple of weeks about how they are doing. I haven't ordered one yet because my husband said he'd read some not so good reviews about them leaking.
