Who-knows-how-long-ago, somebody planted a pair of these trees very close to the front of our house. At various times, chunks have had to be removed because they were endangering cable line and making contact with roof. IDK if that is what caused these issues or not.

Are these trees in danger of falling? Tree #1 is the worst, with a hole near the base that goes at least halfway into the trunk. Does anyone recognize the brown beetle that's not in focus? Both trees constantly have a lot of (falling) yellow leaves. Inside the holes there is loose, dark moist material.

More pics & info available upon request. TIA for any feedback!
