Ok, I feel like I should know what this is. But I don't know the name and I need the name of this guy. Need to replant it, etc.

Does it have any hints of red on the edges? It could be a Dragon Tree!

It does looks like Dragon Tree (Dracaena marginata). Cool that you can grow it outside in the garden.

My only problem with that ID is the enlarged spot where the leaves meet the trunk. Can you take a better photo of that?

The plant in my photo is Madagascar Dragon Tree (Dracaena marginata) which is definitely not what you have.

I wonder if your plant might be a Yucca or Cordyline?

darasius, We don't currently have any photos of Cabbage Tree (Cordyline australis 'Torbay Dazzler') in our database but I think you may have identified your plant! It certainly has the growth habit and appearance of a variegated Cordyline australis. Check out these images for comparison:

Cordyline?

Yes. I am starting to think Cordyline Australis Torbay Dazzler which is a type of palm.

This guy will be going into a much bigger pot, and more sunlight and it's going to be pampered--it is a nice plant!

Hurray! I think you nailed the ID of your plant, it sure appears to be Cordyline australis and it does look like the cultivar 'Torbay Dazzler'.

Cordyline's are not related to Palms, they just sometimes have the same growth habit giving them the appearance of a palm.
