I'm not sure I am seeing what you describe. Your tree looks pretty normal to me.

I don't see either.
But yellowing and Browning leafs, would indicate, insufficient water.
And ! I am sure, in las vegas !😮!
In summer ! Ouch!!!! Crying
Especially, being a young tree.
It needs more than 12 gallons water, ownce a month.
It needs, deep watering.
To encourage, roots to go deep.
I'd increase to more water, every 2 weeks. Thumbs up

I think the poster meant that it was watered 4 times a week with 12 gallons each time. It would still be good to probe the soil to see how moist it is a day or two after watering to determine whether it is sufficient.

I don't see any problems with your Crepe Myrtle either but it might be suffering some sunburn. It hasn't been exactly cool in Las Vegas. Instead of watering 4 times a week, save all that water for a once a week soaking. Drawing the roots deeper will make for a healthier tree that can better withstand the desert heat.

Check half way through the week - if the soil is dry about 5 - 6 inches down, water twice a week. If its okay, water once a week. If you are watering by hand, make sure the water soaks an area out beyond the dripline (the outside reach of the branches). As the tree grows, it will require more and more water. Leaving a hose at a slow trickle for a couple hours is better than a big woosh.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming...."WOW What a Ride!!" -Mark Frost
