What do you do to cultivate seed pods from Japanese iris plants?

Plant them in moist soil in autumn and let winter get over it

Actually there is more to it than just planting. I suggest you Google "growing Japanese iris from seed.". I had seeds from a couple of bee pods last year. I soaked them in tea as directed, then refrigerated them for about six weeks. I then planted the seeds in little seedling pots. Several sprouted and were transferred to slightly larger seedling trays. After it got warm I put them outside to harden off. Since it is very hot here in the summer I put them where they will get lots of shade. Important to keep the soil moist!

Several have grown really well so I will transfer them to larger pots. That way I can keep them well watered and bring them inside if it gets too cold this winter. I haven't decided yet if I will plant them in the ground next year or continue to grow them in larger pots. JI's are grown both ways.

Important to remember - they like to be kept watered. Since they like so much water they are also heavy feeders, so give them some 10-10-10 three or four times a year.
