Groundhogs attack melons like that. They love the seedlings and the fruits. Squirrels seems to like beans and corn more. Deer pull up leaves whole because they don't chew them off. You can catch and "remove" groundhogs using a large Have-A-Hart trap.

Do they have groundhogs in UAE? Did you find any footprints? I have no idea what kind of wildlife you have there. Shrug!

@yardenman @porkpal @ctcarol I have no idea.... i haven't seen even a mouse here yet... during day time its very very hot it reaches almost 50 degree Celsius ... so u cant even find a single cat out here during day time... but after midnight i dunno if rabbits, and hogs came to visit here.... but thanks all for at least guessing it gave me idea... i transplanted new watermelon melon seeds on the same ground.... and covered it up with chicken cage and plastic box.... at least my plants will survive till they get big enough to tolerate nature mischief

Here's another watermelon plant... I have covered it with plastic box... It's working like a green house for it during crazy hot day...
