I have a beautiful Tri-colored Beech tree that I think I planted in 2003. It has begun to have a few branches that are solid burgundy in color. Should I remove those to keep it from eventually turning more of the tree to these solid colored leaves?
Thanks.

Yes, your Tri-colored Beech tree will revert to all coppery leaves if you let it. Keep those reverted branches cut out - they are more vigorous than the tri-colored branches and will eventually overrun your tree.

Tri-colored Beech was developed from a 'sport' or mutation on a regular tree. The sport is not stable so will have to be constantly maintained to prevent reverting.

We have a tri color beech we planted last September in Indianapolis. It is only about 3 foot tall, but the tree only leafed out at the bottom half and the top half still only has brown buds on it and it is June 2018? Should we cut the top half off? It would look pretty silly, but we don't know what to do with it. Thanks for any help you can give us.

Welcome!

Time for a sratch test: scratch the bark in several places above the leaves. If the tissue under the scratch is green, those branches are alive. If the tissue under the scratch is brown or you can't scratch (because the bark is hard as a rock), those brances are dead. Cut the dead branches out.
