My Lunga Di Napoli squash plants appear to look healthy, but the small squash dry up and fall off after growing 2 inches or so. Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated.

My tatume have done this for two years now. I've learned that each plant likes to only work on one squash at a time, so once it gets one set, it will kill off the not-yet-pollinated ones to focus on the one it has growing. Once I pick the one that is growing, it will start another. It is kind of annoying to only have one growing at a time.. I have been thinking it might be a matter of enough water, enough nutrients in the soil, or enough sun... or some combination. I've been trying different fertilizers to no success yet. That said, I have 8 plants growing this year so that helps.
