|I am curious about rose of sharon frequently being recommended for the purpose of creating a privacy hedge. I planted 40 recently at my property line but I fear I was misguided due to the deciduous nature of the plant. I am somewhat elevated from my neighbor and I wonder what I should plant as a "fill in" for the bare season. The area is sloping from the street approximately 200 feet to dense woods. I live in zone 7.|

|In Chattanooga, yalls winter season should be just about as short as it is here.
Was me, I'd try living with it a while.
As far as shrubs to plant behind the rose of Sharons?
I really like wax myrtle.
Great for the birds.... They eat the berries, build nests in the bushes, I use the leaves in my cooking, some people add the berries to their candles for scent... And.... Some people believe that wax myrtle helps with mosquitoes!
How ya gonna beat all of that?
