Plant ID forum: variety ID? maybe ginger lily of some family but which one?

I have this plant I found after it fell off a truck in front of me, it was just a pice of root really so I planted it and got what I think is a type of ginger lily but I can find the particular species.

I just moved down here from N.C. and it doesnt resemble the ones we see up there,..I have seen 1 pic on the web of the exact same flower and it was listed as a Calla but after searching for that I came up empty as well

calla lilies do not look anything like that.

I would say this is solved , Thank you all,..I must be thinking of the Tiger lillies we have up in N.C.

Was a great find, in less than 3 months I have this huge plant with very pretty blooms. Thank You!

you are thinking of asiatic lilies or oriental lilies?

they are very hardy and return every year. Don't know how they do in warmer zones ?

or the kwanza daylilies, some people call those tiger lilies
