Pests and Diseases forum: Peppermint Pest Identification

I need help identifying a bug that is eating my peppermint (it specifically looks to be eating at the base of the stem, causing the stem to turn brown in spots, and the leaves are losing their colour).
I've looked online, and haven't found anything that resembles this thing yet.
I live in Toronto, Canada if that helps, though I've never seen this thing before (I wonder if it's an alien species to my area).

It looks like it could be a treehopper nymph but I don't know which one. Check out these images, I don't see an exact match but there are similarities:
