These little guys are in clusters as shown in the photo above in several places and are eating their way across the yard. Anyone recognize this leaf eater from western Massachusetts, USA? Thanks in advance!

Welcome! That looks pretty weird! Excellent photo. Do they ever separate? If they separate a picture of one would be helpful unless someone else recognizes it.

Check with the local county extension service, they be able to help.

Thank you Sooby! I have only seen them in these clusters and not individually. Also, thank you crawgarden, I will see if I can get a hold of the extension service at UMass per your recommendation, thank you.
