What are these little white things growing around my trees

They are growing around different types of trees. Some pecan trees as well as maple trees

No they don't smell like onions at all. They smell like some sort of root. They smash very easy in your hands.

I would say probably some sort of fungus, then - most likely not harmful in any way. Smiling

What's on the inside when you smash them? Can you take a photo of one cut in half top to bottom? Are you sure they aren't little bulbs being forced out of the ground?
