Does anyone know what this red bug is? I have never seen them before this year, and I think they are eating the leaves on all my flowers and bushes. How can I get rid of them or discourage them from eating my plants?
They look a bit like a box elder bug, but we get those every spring and fall, and these are not the same. I've included a picture of the box elders we see every year.. They're annoying but harmless. If the red ones are a type of BE bug, do they eat leaves?
For reference, we live in the Colorado mountains. Dry, usually mild climate.
Please help! Thank you

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.
