I have a new variety but to tell you the truth, I have never heard of the genus, Ink. This hybrid is a cross of Zglm. Rhein Harlein and Agx. Eva's Blue Amazon. I thought the flower was interesting. Can anyone tell me what the abbreviation "Ink." stands for?

Looks like the parentage for that one is a bit confusing, too. I assume Kalapana Tropicals was the source of this plant, Ken?

According to the RHS, Zglm. Rhein Harlein is not a registered grex. The parentage registered for Ink. Cheyenne Marie is Pabanisia Eva's Blue Amazon X Zygolum Louisendorf. So Eva's Blue Amazon has been reclassified at some point.

A bit more digging seems to suggest that 'Rhein Harlein' is actually a misspelt clonal name and that the full parentage for your plant is probably: Zygolum Louisendorf 'Rhein Harlekin' X Pabanisia Eva's Blue Amazon

It is a nice graceful flower anyway, Ken. I do love white flowers and a pretty form like that.

Just to confuse matters, I did have a Zygo. Rhein Harlequin a year or so ago. Got it at Trader Joe's so hardly a dependable source for orchids, but the tag looked like somebody cared, anyway. It's since been killed by the dodo.

Ken, that is a beautiful flower with a lovely graceful form (too bad it has such an unattractive alphabet soup for a name.) .

Yeah, you gotta think Ian Clark really wanted an orchid named after him . . . Rolling my eyes. Shrug! Hope he enjoys being called "Ink" for short.
