This sprung up in a pot. It is with a daylily in a 16 inch pot. It is bigger than the daylily now.
Looks like a giant veronica, with very wide salvia leaves, and the individual little flowers look more like butterfly bush flowers. But the flower stems are skinny and spindly. The background is a board to try and block the sun for pictures.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

I don't know what species it is, but it looks like something in the mint family (there are hundreds or thousands of species). Somebody other than me will probably know a more definite answer.

I'm curious if the leaves have a fragrance when crushed?
Keep going!

Looks like a heliotrope.
I'm not having much luck matching it exactly from the database... Maybe google will be more help.

Hmmm
Try boraginaceae heliotropium indicum

Indian heliotrope (Heliotropium indicum)

Jai--
Very good point about crushing a leaf. I had not thought of that. Just went outside and crushed a leaf. No odor. Not a a salvia or mint odor. It actually smelled very clean like a fresh blade of grass, if that makes sense.

Stone--
I started researching heliotrope and found a heliotropium indicum.
Sure enough that is what it is! I have never seen one before in this area. Are they a weed or do they have a benefit? Maybe a seed came in the potting soil. Thumbs up

Thank you both for your help
