Daylilies forum: Can day lilly leaves be cut back after the lillies finish blooming?

Recently moved to home with nice backyard landscaping in Maryland
The yard includes a stand of day lillies that bloomed for several weeks in late June and early July.
Can the foliage be cut back now without injuring the plants?
