Are those the right leaves in the background? If so, its a type of wild Geranium.

It looks like a wildflower that goes by the name winecup. Maybe Callirhoe involucrata.

Yes, sprawling, not vining. And they seem to root along the way. I have been trying to figure out what they are for two years now without success. But then, Mallow hadn't occurred to me for two reasons: The leaves and growth habit look like wild Geraniums and I didn't get down on my hands and knees and inspect the flower that carefully (because of reason #1).

I am calling the local nurseries tomorrow... Thank You! Thank You! and Thank You! for the three correct ID's. Hurray!
