Hi guys
I just started a bit of gardening and I'm a bit nooby. So here's a silly question.
I out a couple of lemon seeds in paper towels like I saw on YouTube and they have sprouted.
But now I'm not sure what the part that came out of the seed actually is. Is it the root or the plant?
Here are a couple of pics just to make it easier to explain what my question actually is. Is the part with a red line the root or the plant?
I also had one watermelon seed in there as well. So the same question about it as well. :)
Hope for a reply

I agree The roots always grow first.

Thumb of 2017-07-27/dejanmax/b5cafb That is the root along the red line; the plant is on the lower left.

Thumb of 2017-07-27/dejanmax/85b238 The root is on the upper left. The plant is on the lower right.

Thumb of 2017-07-27/dejanmax/43a4d4 This one is a bit too dark for my old eyes. I think the root is on the upper right and the seed coating is on the lower left.

For a newbie you are doing very well. Keep up the good work. How is the weather in Serbia at this time of year?

Hi
Yup, I'm from Serbia. :)
It's pretty hot here right now, though it rained quite a lot yesterday.
I did some work around garden before, but this is the first time I'm trying to plant something from seeds. I just want to see whether I'll be able to do it. :)
Luckily, I bumped into the forum and haven't planted these the wrong way. xD

Howdy there : Dejan !😁
Is that your name ? Or maybe your name is Jan ! Jan is my sister's name.

Hay just because i'm inquisitive. How hot are your temperatures in summer ? Hear, our summers usually range from 90 f. to 110 f.
And we allmost never get any rain. If we do, its a brief shower. California's San Joaquin Valley is a desert. Farmers and city's pump water from underground.
Bye. For now !😁
