Scatterbrain,
Your photos decided it, in my next order I will get Star Child. It seems to look nice in any weather.

Beautiful cultivars you have posted! I received Nature's Purple Butterfly as a bonus plant this spring, and it has performed beautifully this summer. I will keep a watch for the others. Availability is limited in Canada.
Star Child is available here and I think I will give it a try!

@touchofsky

Valerie--I don't think that you will be disappointed by Star Child whatever face she chooses to have in your garden, she is very fertile too (both ways).

@floota

Julie-I can imagine how upsetting that was. Priscilla's Dream has very unpredictable colour--I commented on another thread that she was almost a raspberry self that day with only a very faint ghost eye but two days previously had shown the full pattern and was the more usual greyish purple tone!

Edited--Valerie, your post came in at the same time as mine.
Star Child stands up to anything the weather can throw at her here, she really is very well named--she is my absolute favourite.

We seem to have all kinds of weather now. Last year, it was hot and dry. This year, it is cool and rainy. The colours can be vastly different day to day. If we get a few cool days in a row, the colours are much darker. Oh well, it keeps the garden interesting.

My "must have" list if growing again Hilarious!

Same here, Valerie,

It is not unknown (but thankfully not frequent) to have rain, snow, wind, hail and sun all on the same day here! Rolling on the floor laughing

I would emigrate but nowhere would have me!

I have managed to find my pics of Honky Tonk Blues and Dark Sprite (unreg?)
HONKY TONK BLUES

DARK SPRITE
Thumb of 2017-08-19/Scatterbrain/a2f7e5

Since I started looking on european sites I saw MY 'Dark Sprite' for sale on a European site where it was being sold under the name 'Black Emmanuelle' but it is clearly not the same plant registered as 'Black Emmanuelle' on the databases. It's flowers are traditional trumpet shaped and very definitely mini.

I would guess it came from the same source/supplier originally but the UK seller realised that it wasn't the 'real' Blk. Emmanuelle and gave it the name 'Dark Sprite' as a garden name.

Regardless of its real identity it is a fantastic little plant and as I have a black smoke Egyptian Mau called Sprite I shall always grow it in my garden.

Its flowers are the same size as Honky Tonk Blues and Star Child.

@Scatterbrain, in addition to your lovely flowers, how about a photo of your Egyptian Mau cat? I had never heard of this breed until your post, and I looked it up. I am a cat lover currently without a cat and always enjoy seeing pictures of other peoples' cats.

@Avedon Not Egyptian Mau but I have 3 Singapuras and biasedly think they are the best cat breed. Very loving people cats. I have 2 sitting on me right now.

Jill, your cats are beautiful. Never heard of this breed either, so I looked them up and I can see why they would make great pets. Thank you for posting the picture.

Now, since this is a thread about purple/mini daylilies, I will add that I am waiting to hear if I am going to get Rosabell Van Valkenburgh. I placed an order last week and hope to have a reply sometime this week, hopefully tomorrow.

@jillz-singapuras are adorable little cats--I love their huge eyes. Beautiful little trio there. Lovey dubby

@avedon--I'll have a look through the pics tomorrow and choose some nice ones. We have two black smoke Egyptian Maus (the rarest of the three colours in the breed)-- they are called Sprite and Faustus and then we have a caramel classic tabby Oriental Shorthair called TinTin.

Sadly we lost our other boy not too long ago-- a chocolate-silver Ocicat called Zola.

The best pics are on the computer and OH is using it for work stuff just now but I should be able to get on it tomorrow.

Fingers crossed for Rosabelle Van Valkenburgh

I've always wanted to try Curt Hanson's Le Petit Saboteur, but I never see it offered for sale. It's supposed to be tall and very well branched. Does anyone grow it?

Sorry James, I've never seen it for sale--I have a vague recollection of having seen someone's pictures of it on an old thread though.

Feeling a little under the weather this evening but I'll see if I can find the thread tomorrow for you.

Edited--found it, Char and Newyorkrita both have grown it (certainly in the past if they don't still have it) so they would be able to advise you about it.

Le Petit Saboteur grows around registered height, 36", for me. You are correct, the branching is very nice as you can see in this image I posted to the database.

I'm not sure how well distributed it is but would think someone has it available.....I just checked Curt's website and found it listed under the Previous Introductions tab for $30.00.

This is absolutely my very most favorite mini purple daylily. My solid reasoning follows:

#1 It is not yellow

#2 It is the only one I have.

"Hemerocallis 'Little Grapette', 2015, Small Purple Daylily, hem-ur -oh-KAL-iss, 12"" E Se Perennial (Williamson, 1970), Z3, 2"" Grape, Bloom Month 7a, In Bed U1 for 3.9 years

(Williamson, 1970) height 12"", bloom 2"", season E, Semi-Evergreen, Diploid, Grape self. (Lavender Doll × sdlg)"

Little Grapette is a nice mini purple. Mine is taller than the registered height of 12 inches, but the flower is small.

Good news today--I will be getting a clump of Rosabell Van Valkenburgh about the middle of September from Dancing Daylilies. Our original messages somehow went astray, that's why it took so long, but all is well now, really looking forward to getting this little beauty.
