Why isn't it blooming? It get good sun and keeping spreading, but no blooms. Does it need blooming fertilizer? Thanks Thank You!

I planted one in 2007 and it just bloomed for the first time this month! I remember reading this is pretty common for them to take a long time to bloom. I even remember someone jokingly saying they think they got the non-blooming cultivar. I saw some in pots at Lowe's yesterday already in bloom. I was kind of amazed and the flower son them were twice the size of ones I have seen so maybe they have a newer type now. If mine hadn't just started blooming I probably would have bought one.
