Forecast for the mid-Willamette Valley, Tuesday through Friday: 101, 111, 109 and 102 degrees. My few, poor Oriental lilies won't have a chance. Sad

We never get that hot here, but last week when we had several days in the upper 90s with a 66-70F dewpoint, my L. nepalense gift became infected with botrytis (or similar). The welts grew with an incredible speed I had never seen before. Fortunately, I now have air conditioning, and I snipped off the infected parts of the lily and brought the potted plant inside with a gentle fan on it. Disaster was averted. Smiling

Umbrellas...... If only it were that easy. Hilarious! Good luck, Pard!

That is hot!!! It would be more than the lilies melting here if it was that hot - I would melt into a puddle of sweat...

@Joebass Joe that is what I was thinking... except lily season is all but done for me now. It's just a few Orientals left and the wilted dregs of what was one of my best lily years ever.

The good news is (drum roll here...) the forecasters have lowered the estimate for Wednesday from 111 to 109 degrees. The forecast from there is all mid 90s until??? I'll be spending time today bringing my potted lily seedlings inside to gather around the air conditioner!
