Hi, my mum has recently moved into her new home. The previous owners planted lots of fruit and vegetables but we have no idea what this is... It feels hard and the seeds inside are also hard, like peanuts! Would love to know what it is.

Welcome!

That looks like the seed pod from an Iris.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome Daisyl! I've had a Google and I'm sure you're right. Can't wait to tell my mum as we couldn't figure it out! I'm sure I'll list some more weird and wonderful things from her garden! X

Oh, that's good, I wasn't talking about Bearded Iris. Smiling

Maybe something like Yellow Flag. Its hard to tell without a photo of the flowers and the rest of the plant. The flat seeds are a hint for us though.

I was thinking seedpods of Species Iris (Iris pseudacorus) too.

Thank you that is so helpful! She also has this fruit growing which is unusual to us. She's so lucky, she has grapes, apples, pears, tomatoes, rhubarb and these furry little things... Anyone like to hazard a guess...
