These plants (name unknown) were quite happy in the same pot, one had even started flowering (briefly) when some leaves started losing colour (whitening) and one of the stems weakened and collapsed. I feed it with a general fertiliser mix (14-14-14). Whats happened?

I would suspect too much watering and too strong fertilizer. Too much water makes plants soft. Too much fertilizer forces them to grow faster than their structure can maintain.
