To have seed pods, there must first be flowers that are pollinated.

A picture would help us advise you. Huge is a relative term, and no plant will form seeds without first blooming. If your plant is indeed a castor bean, I hope you're aware that it is NOT an edible bean...they are poisonous.

You have a Male Castor Bean species. Rolling on the floor laughing Just kidding!! JUST KIDDING!!! It's a gorgeous plant. I don't have enough sun for one, even tried it. Who needs beans, I am jealous!

Wow! I can't answer your question. Don't know if it has to do with sun, or if there are male and female plants. I do know they're noxious weeds here, that often bloom at 1 ft. and can grow to 10 ft. with no water and poor soil. The seeds seem to last forever. I thought I was done with them 20 years ago, but when they leveled the soil to build me a new shed I had seedlings popping up again.
I don't recall ever seeing them anywhere other than full sun.

That's a pretty big plant! Do you see any sign of flower buds forming?

Rolling on the floor laughing Too funny! For a minute you had me fooled. Thumbs up

Some types of Castor Bean plants are listed as "early maturing" and some can take up to 180 days. Any way you can know which type you have?

Also, plant requires sun. Since the plant is up against your house I think it is not in full sun the entire day.

@jlm, that is a really nice plant! I used to grow them but haven't had any in years. Mine always took a long time to bloom, but then the seeds did last forever.
