Does anyone know what creature is causing these? Random tunnels throughout yard. A few more appear every other day. We have put out a live trap, no luck. We have also used many packs of gopher/mole/ground squirrel/vole gasser/bombs. We do not see these in the lawn. Only in the garden. A few weeks ago we had a few holes pop up away from the garden in the lawn with dirt piles around the holes. We placed the gasser bombs in the holes and haven't seen those since.

We have field mice that do the same thing. The only cure for it is a cat......

A smart, hungry cat. I had two cats, and a gopher managed to eat a vine to one root, about 6" above ground over a period of three days.

I would suspect moles from the look and size of the mounding. We have a no-till garden covered in several inches of wood chip. We get moles in the yard and use spear-type traps to eliminate them. But recently we found some mounding in the garden, that ultimately ended up in the yard. It took a few tries with the trap but finally snared the digger. Mice and voles will follow existing mole tunnels so it's a good idea to tamp them down after a mole has been eliminated.

It's been looking like Caddyshack at my neighbors! He has fought his adversary for years, back yard into the front. Water, smoke bombs, poison and traps. This has been going on for 3-5 years, I keep expecting Bill Murray to show up.
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

I've been quite successful. It does require some diligence though. The cure is only temporary here, and then it starts all over. I only use spike traps. Simple, and doesn't require a lot of effort.
