I live in Tennessee and planted this beauty many years ago. It's one of my favorites, but I have forgotten her name. I would love to know who this is.

Thank you!

Its called Snow-on-the-Mountain (Breynia disticha). One of my favorites too.

Will Hawaiian Snowbush (Breynia disticha) grow in zone Tennessee? It reminds me more of Loropetalum: https://garden.org/plants/sear...

Lin may be right. Loropetalum is the one that grows here but I assumed Tennessee was warmer. Smiling

I apologize if I got the wrong one.

I reread our exchange and did not notice that perhaps you were talking about the same plant, with a different common name. The breynia disticha, Snow-on-the-Mountain, aka, Snowbush?, has been growing in my yard in Chattanooga, Tennessee for about 15 years with virtually no help from me other than a little water at the start and trimming/pruning once in a while. I can't speak for the rest of the state, but it's as healthy and hardy as anything else in our yard.

Your plant really looks like Breynia disticha AKA snow bush or snow on the mountain.

Loropetalum has dark red leaves and little flowers that look like fringe (its related to witchhazel) , thus their common name, fringe-flower. Hardy to Zone 8 (I grew it in California). Have you ever seen flowers like that?

Fringe-flower grew in California, snowbush grows here in Reno. Or at least something that looks a lot like it... Confused as according to what I have been reading, Breynia disticha is only hardy to zone 9 or10.

So I must have the wrong name but I'm not sure what the right name is... (more Confused Confused )

This is making me crazy. Grumbling I stopped at two nurseries today to try and find that shrub and both are out for the season. Our planting time is pretty much over about August 1- everything left has big discounts. And none of those are left. Sighing!

I have one Breynia disticha and I used to have the Loropetalum too but never realized how similar they look to each other. Green Grin!
