I've looked all over the internet to no avail. Anyone know what this is? I live in northern Illinois, near Chicago. The flowers are not out yet but they look to be yellowish. The leaves are hairy and the stalk is ridged and green.

Tofi, do you mean Erechtites hieraciifolia?

Thank you sooby. It is definitely E. hieracifolia. It's a native but it's not very attractive. Its nectar attracts wasps and hornets but also bees. I'm planning to have more native plants in our garden, but this one....I don't know! Anyway, thanks so much for your help, tofitropic and sooby!
