This tree has very unique bark for a Maple tree. It is plating off.

Yes, excellent photodocumentation of Platanus x acerifolia (syn. Platanus x hispanica).

Note that the maple-like simple leaves are alternate in arrangement along the branches, which differs from any Maple (Acer sp.) where the leaves will always be opposite in arrangement along the branches.
