I got this orange tree last year and I kept it on my balcony. I live in Quebec so I wouldn't have normally even tried but I figured it somehow made it this far.

I think it outgrew its pot and/or maybe I over watered it and its leaves started turning yellow in the fall. And then it was stuck outside in the winter. Now it looks worse and its trunk is turning yellow too.

I know a yard I can plant this in but I'm wondering if it's too late. Is there any hope still?

I doubt it. No orange tree can survive a winter outside in Zone 5 - being in a pot made it Zone 3 or 4.

But to make sure, scratch the trunk with your fingernail. If the layer under the bark is brown or hard, its dead. If the layer under the bark is green, its alive.
