Any reasons this or suggestions why this happens with the peace lily or is it just an abnormality? This is so far the first I've seen.

I think its just an abnormal bloom. Interesting though.

I would call it an anomaly rather than an abnormality, which implies something is wrong. It's just different.

Abnormality: malformation, deformity, irregularity, flaw, defect, anomaly

Anomaly: oddity, peculiarity, abnormality, irregularity, inconsistency, incongruity, aberration, quirk, rarity
