This is a single plant. A huge squash vine but I have no idea what it is. Today I finally see a flower so I hope this helps. The leaves are very large, more than 12 inches across. The vine covers an area of more than...40-50 square feet of the yard space.
Here is the one flower:

This picture has the lens cap from my camera to indicate the size of the leaves

Here are photos from several angles:

We did not plant any type of squash.
Thanks. Thank You!

I used to grow a round zucchini that grew a huge vine with huge leaves. I picked them small (softball to small melon size) but if I missed one, it was a basketball within a day or so. I can't remember the name though. Sighing!

Thanks to an error in delivery by the USPS I now have a new local plant/gardening friend. I took a package over to his house that was delivered to my daughter's house in error; he stopped by to photograph the huge mystery squash plant and will try to identify it.

I double checked along the vine and there are tons of itty bitty female flowers just getting ready. Thumbs up Whatever it is, there sure will be a lot of it. Whistling

Trying to think back to remember what all we tossed into the compost bin. I know there was a Kabocha squash but there was also one from the Indian grocery; don't know what type that was. There was also a Long Island Cheese Pumpkin. Or it could be a gift from the birds. Hilarious!

Daughter took photos of the NOID squash plant. She observed both male and female flowers so she took a long wooden cotton swab and transferred pollen from one to the other.
Female flower:

Male flower:

Two male flowers:

Today another male flower opened so daughter will harvest some pollen and hope that a female flower will open soon. Thumbs up

Update.

Daughter and I have been helping to pollinate this plant. Seems to be working.
Here is a photo (with my hand as a size reference) of the one squash fruit that has grown.
Does it look like it can be identified yet?

My neighbor who is from Mexico saw the fruit and said he thinks it is a calabaza - a name for several types of winter squash/pumpkin. There are 4 or maybe 5 fruits ripening and I hope the season is long enough so these can mature.

My thought was Kabocha. It does look like a pumpkin of some sort.

Thanks. Whatever it is I sure hope the weather holds out long enough for the fruits to mature. There are several fruits now as we have been hand pollinating whenever we see a female flower.

While I was hand pollinating I had some visitors to the garden yesterday and together we found more fruits growing on this mystery squash vine - we found 6 so far. Here is a photo collage; the largest is about 10" across; the smallest is ...well, it's small. Rolling on the floor laughing

Well, I am feeling older by the minute. Two of my neighbors stopped by to look at the mystery squash. They have much younger eyes and found 5 more fruits growing on this huge plant. So far there are 11 fruits; the largest is about 11 inches across. Thumbs up

The continuing saga of the NOID mystery squash plant...
Today while I was not here the tree men came to cut down two trees in the neighboring yard. They cut down two huge pine trees, drove their big old trucks all over everything...but they did not damage the squash vine. They thought it was a pumpkin and respected a safe distance. Thumbs up

The mystery vine is not enjoying the extra sunshine made available now that the nearby tree has been removed. I am watering twice a day hoping to keep the plant happy.

Another neighbor stopped by, she is from Guatemala. She recognized the fruit but does not know the name in English. I told her I will give her a fruit or two when they are mature. She said it makes a very good soup. And yes, I will ask for the recipe! Thumbs up

Photos are of the largest fruit with my old hand for size reference. See how the fruit is kind of flat, not very round or tall.

Greene, this pumpkin sure looks familiar to me as one that I got seeds from you in the piggy seed swap back in 2014. I think it was called Thai pumpkin, seeds may have come from PlantSister. Did you possibly plant some seeds back then and could they have just now decided to grow??? Seems far fetched but...

Thanks, I had thought about the Thai pumpkin but no, I never actually planted it.

Another Latino neighbor stopped by to show his wife the Calabaza growing in my yard. They are all calling it that. They liked it and asked if I eat the flowers. Confused Blinking
Calabaza just means 'squash' in Spanish (the word is also used for zucchini) so...no definite identification yet.

Okay, the flowers are edible. Thumbs up Learning more about this everyday. Hope it will be mature enough soon so I can begin sharing it with the neighbors and hopefully gathering recipes. Thumbs up

Kind of a fun treasure hunt. Keep us in the loop, particularly when you decide to try eating whatever it is.
