I have a beautiful Schefflera that has been battling some type of fungus or mold (I think). I do not know how to resolve the issue and am looking for assistance. The issue sometimes appears to resolve itself (mostly) then come back with a vengeance. This issue appears to cause the leaves to eventually discolor, whither and then fall off.

There is a white powdery residue on the bottom of the leaves.

It is hard to be sure from the photo, but it appears that your Schefflera has a mealybug infestation. Mix a solution of 5 parts water, 1 part alcohol and a squirt of liquid dish soap. Then, you have to spray the entire plant - all leaf and stem surfaces - until they are dripping wet. If you are not 100% effective in spray coverage, some of the critters will survive and come back again down the road.

Thank you so much for your response. I'll give it a try and provide feedback...
