I have a question about watermelon. I have about 4 on the vine that look great. Now, Every time a new watermelon starts, it turned black and is dead. These are about a tennis ball size. It really is confusing because my larger melons are doing great.

This happens to my zucchini too. I'm pretty sure it's a pollination issue. Last year I had cucumber beetles (none so far this year, knock on wood) that made the fruit rot too. I would check for bugs first, especially if the plant has leaf damage. If not, it's probably pollination. I've been told that planting borage brings all the bees to the yard. Smiling

Watermelons produce, one or two mellons per vine. That is your standard watermelon. I'm gonna guess the smaller varities, would produce 3 or 4.
Do you have smaller variety?
Also. How many plants ?
Any bugs ?
Some, hand pollinating may be in order.
