I would amend the quote to somehow say 'both'. But wait, I guess that would be 'you reap what you sow.' So I guess what this is saying is even if you fail at one harvest, take heart and sow again.
I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned.

Actually when one sows one has a goal in mind. Otherwise why sow ? ( this applied to life as well) However any sower knows that to reap any reasonable harvest one has to sow generously, otherwise at harvest time one doesn't reap enough ( this also applied to life...). Sometimes seeds fall on the wrong place, or they were not tended adequately...nothing to reap afterwise either... (ditto) Does this remind the parable about the sower in the gospels? Perhaps so...
