Maybe a type of Chenopodium/Pigweed? Do not let it go to seed!

Greene,

Pigweed - Amaranthus? Lamb's Quarters - Chenopodium?

It looks like Lamb's Quarters (Chenopodium) to me.

Just because you can eat it doesn't mean you will want to eat it.

It could also be Mexican Bonebract which poisoned a couple of my horses a couple of years ago...

If it is Chenopodium album, or one of various Amaranthus, they are widely used edibles in many parts of the world.

Somehow I don't think that's it. The leaf texture looks different or something. Can you hang onto it until it blooms?

With those ridged stems, fleshy, and purplish at base of branch... agree Chenopodium album. yes you could wait till flower, (but it's also fun to ID before that... kind of quizz LOL). After you are sure it's lambs quarter, you can try to cook some. (I did... Amaranthus is better to my taste, but trying to eat weed is fun for me)

Reject the socio-brainwashing that says some edible plants are weeds. "They" would prefer for you to buy every bite and a 'cide for the weeds.
