Photos taken between 2:24 EST and 2:35 EST. Circadias started chirping and just as quickly quit as the sun reappeared. Glad to be alive to witness this.

That's amazing, Dave! It was only partial here too, but the sky clouded over just before it began and then completely cleared once it was over! It was so cloudy that I couldn't even see where the sun actually was... It did get darker than one would expect for a cloudy day, but not very darn dramatic. Sighing!

Thank goodness for all the coverage on TV and the internet! Hurray!

Here in Savannah, Georgia we were in a good location to view the eclipse...except that the weatherman forgot to cooperate. The sky was totally covered with clouds. There was not even a shadow visible on the ground and no hope to see even a glimpse of the eclipse.

I am happy for everyone who had a good experience with this eclipse. Thumbs up

It was a partial eclipse here and so it did not get darker.
DD had ordered the special glasses so we could view it first hand.

Partial here and I kept waiting for the thunder/rain as it was dark outside. nodding

Nice series of photos of the eclipse Dave. Thanks for sharing!
Be content moving inch by inch because, by days end, the inches, will add up to feet and yards.

Did anyone else get a little teary-eyed, thinking this might be the last one we may see in our lifetime? 'Kind of places things in perspective?

After admiring the eclipse photos by TennesseeDave, I thought I would share my single photo. It took me most of the morning to figure out how to get a photo uploaded from my new phone, but here it is. My view of the eclipse in Savannah, Georgia. Taken in the Walmart parking lot at 2:19pm. Couldn't see the sky or the sun; only lovely clouds. Rolling on the floor laughing

I got home in time for the darkest part of the eclipse and was walking all 3 dogs in the backyard so they could do some synchronized pooping to commemorate the big event. Hurray! Hurray!

I'm an hour north of Seattle and didn't get much in the way of darkness, but did note a definite drop in temperature. We did the box thing, which was cool. And enjoying some very excellent photos on social media.

We took a day trip to the path of totality. The total eclipse was amazing! Big Grin The corona was just beautiful. The experience still doesn't seem completely real to me. We're already starting to discuss possible travel plans for 2024. It's supposed to be a little longer in duration and darker due to the moon being closer to perigee.

Dave, did you get a corona photo during totality?

I found it underwhelming but wasn't in the direct path, nor did I have much interest in fighting traffic down to Oregon (even though Gary actually has relatives in the area) for such a short show. I am enjoying the beautiful photographs though - some are truly stunning.

I finally have some pictures...

Went down to the museum... They were giving out glasses... I didn't get there soon enough... borrowed glasses from people in the crowd.

Thumb of 2017-08-24/stone/af4ec0

Couldn't figure out how to take pics through the shades... but the leaf shadows were pretty interesting...

Didn't get dark like in TN, but the light did get funny... couldn't figure out how to get a pic of that...

I'm glad you had a clear sky for watching it, Stone! Love the patterns the eclipse made through the leaves... Thumbs up
