12+ inches so far. Some road closures around here, but around my place OK. A&M closed for the next few days but I am in a dept at the Vet School so need to try and get in if I can. |

The continuing path of Harvey is predicted to return south into the shores of the Gulf, then go up the coast a bit then come more directly over Houston. Harvey may be down graded to a Tropical Storm. Still, 55-70mph winds are nothing to laugh at. First estimates, we are to get an additional 50", that's fifty inches of rain in the Houston area starting Tuesday. Let's hope the weather predictions are wrong. Dead wrong! So far we have had about 30" of rain. It rained non-stop since last night. Anything more will prove difficult to handle.![]() Life is short, Break the rules, Forgive quickly, Kiss slowly, Love Truly, Laugh uncontrollably, And never regret anything that made you Smile. |
teacup754 Hope you are extremely cautious in the morning. Unless you have a big bag of food in your trunk, those animals will be okay until you can safely get to A&M. We didn't even venture out to see how high Barton Creek was running out here. Stay safe. |

It is really mind boggling to think of 30", let alone 50". Y'all stay safe! |

We are close to the university on streets not around any waterways. But if in doubt I will turn around for sure. This evening the only areas I was concerned about still looked like no problems with them. |

I swear I never once asked the guy upstairs to send Harvey to southeast Texas! I have FAMILY there! OMG, what a mess! I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. You cannot imagine the sickening feeling you get in your gut when the water is inching up the driveway and the rain just keeps on coming; you're exhausted from anxiety but the news says don't go to sleep if your neighborhood has high waterš© |

Has anyone heard from @Horntoad? He lives down in the midst of it The news on Houston is just heartbreaking. I have friends from Rockport that lost their home and or have severe damage. The pix they sent yesterday were so sad but fortunate to be alive Gardening is learning, learning, learning. That's the fun of them. You're always learning ! Helen Mirren |

I fear for Jay @Horntoad as I know his area would get rising water fairly often in "normal" times. Who else is in the danger zone? Y'all are more familiar with the areas than I. Can we make a list of members we need to be looking for? I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. It's possible that some of these members are without power and have moved to shelters, or to be with family in a safer spot. Checking in might not be a priority at this time. |

@horntoad just lost his mother and has posted as recent as last night on a thread looking for memorial plants for her. I'll post there asking him to check in. He didn't mention the flooding. Be a person that makes others feel special. |

I realize that Sandi. I've been thinking about how we could organize this. Yes, there will be members who are unable to post for various reasons, if for no other reason than that they are much too overwhelmed & busy & exhausted to. That doesn't mean we won't worry about them until everyone is accounted for. So I got to thinking. Maybe one Texan should start a group email (tmail) to "the list" of those in affected areas. That way when those people finally do come online & to NGA, they will have the tmail even if they don't have their settings set to notify them @ their private email addy. The person sending out the original group tmail could post who has been accounted for. We could even start a new thread for keeping track of them. The new thread would list the ones in affected areas & then could be edited with short notes as people report in on the tmail. The notes could state, beside their name, the date they reported in & maybe a short brief on their situation. I'm just throwing this idea out there guys. I fully realize it could be months before we hear from some of them. I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others.
