This is only my second year crossing daylilies but I have not seen a pod like this one. I'm a little concerned about the large hole in the center. Hope bugs and moisture won't get in it and ruin it. And what's up with the six sections? It's a pod from Rolling Stone.

Sue,

I had a pod like that last year on Lee's Loss. Looks like what is a six chambered pod, but the three smallest do not have any seeds developing in them. The other chambers look plump and from what I see in the opening of the pod they are ripening.

This link will take you to a blog post of mine, that shows the pod I had. https://garden.org/blogs/entry...

Edit: I hit the post button to fast.

Just wanted to add, that the seeds developed ok and were viable. I have a few seedlings growing from this one. And to add, that I'm not sure what caused it. I am looking for another post where I believe @sooby explained what or why this would occur.
If I find it I will come back and edit again.

Lullaby Baby throws pods like that for me every year. I had 3 this year, two of which were selfed bee pods. And one I can't remember the cross...

The darn photo won't upload... Grr...
