|This is the only seed dahlia I kept this year. It is only about 12 to 14 inches tall and extremely floriferous.|
I grew everything in this picture from seed this year except the geranium in the lower left corner (that's two years old).

|Yes! portulacas. Love them. Those and Livingstone Daisies. Both need sun to keep them open. Can be a rare commodity here but this year was fairly nice. At least enough that the Livingstones grew and opened up sometimes.|

|Portulacas are technically a perennial and sometimes I have been able to grow them over winter from cuttings or seeds.|
Imdoors they grow very slowly but on the brightest January days near perihelion it feels so amazing to have one blooming in a south facing window.
