This is the only seed dahlia I kept this year. It is only about 12 to 14 inches tall and extremely floriferous.

I grew everything in this picture from seed this year except the geranium in the lower left corner (that's two years old).

Lovely color. And I see the tiny little primroses (?) in the back.

Yes! portulacas. Love them. Those and Livingstone Daisies. Both need sun to keep them open. Can be a rare commodity here but this year was fairly nice. At least enough that the Livingstones grew and opened up sometimes.

Portulacas are technically a perennial and sometimes I have been able to grow them over winter from cuttings or seeds.

Imdoors they grow very slowly but on the brightest January days near perihelion it feels so amazing to have one blooming in a south facing window.
Keep going.

I received a free packet of Dahlia 'Opera'

I doubt that I will save the tubers...
