I have something growing on my damson plum tree. It's a lumpy ,ugly . brown grown that circles the branch. from one to 2 inches long. There are a bunch of them on different branches. Do I need to cut off the branches? Plum fruit on old wood, so it would reduce my crop. I live in New Jersey so I get a hard freeze. Will these things hurt my tree?
