My mom passed away this week she loved to garden and I am wanting to make a memorial garden for her. Here name was Betty Lou and she was born in 1933 at the time that Betty Boop was created, so she was often called that growing up. I was wondering if anyone here has or knows where I can get 'Betty Boop' and/or 'Betty Lou' Daylilies.

Jay, very sorry to hear about your Mom.
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

Jay, condolences in this time of sorrow. Wish I knew of a seller for those CVs, but unfortunately I don't.

Jay so very sorry about your mom. Will keep you in my prayers.
Have you checked the LA or googled it? There is also a daylily thread on ones you're looking for.

Not sure what LA is but Google is the first place I went. All I have found so far is description pages and nursery sites that don't carry it. I did find a 'Betty Boop' Rose, but it was out of stock.

I looked on the LA(Lily Auction) and didn't find either. There was a Westbourne Betty Lou sold before but none for sale right now. I googled a bunch too for older daylilies.

If your mother had a garden you could also transplant plants from her garden to yours. I did that with my mom's garden.

She loved to garden, but due to her declining health, a lot was lost. I do plan on using what I can salvage in the garden, but thought a "namesake" plant would be a nice touch.

Jay-- May you be blessed with safety! My condolences for the loss of your mom. Seedlings do not have names and cost $20 to register. You could have one with your mother's full name. I know people do sell seedlings. Not sure how it works but I think you just have to get their permission to register. If you wanted to do that maybe someone here could point you in that direction. Just putting that out there as an option.

May you have an overabundance of blessings!

I looked up Betty Boop here on NGA, and one member has it. You could send her a tree mail to see if she would share where she purchased it.
Also, the hybridizer is Maryott...he is no longer in business, but Schreiner's Iris and Daylily Gardens bought his inventory and will continue to sell his introductions (I think--other members can correct me on this if needed). They aren't selling any more daylilies this year, but will begin to take orders again in the spring. Might be worth your time to call or email them and ask.

I'm glad that you found what you're looking for. But so sorry to learn about the loss of your Mom. Finding a plant with her name and placing it in a memorial garden is a beautiful gesture.

Hurray! Jay! Happy you found one of the CVs you were looking for. The other is an older CV registered in 1965. It will most likely be hard to come across. But good luck with your quest.
