I have been seeing what looks like a five leaflet leafy plant with portions of it looking like poison ivy, that is with three leafy leaves. I get a severe skin reaction to poison ivy, so I am wondering if we need to try to get rid of it !?

Pay attention to the larger 5-leaflet leaves. If the 3-leaflet leaves are at the growing tips of the vine, no worries. It's also common for creeper seedlings first true leaves to have only 3 leaflets. If you are seriously susceptible to the toxin (as I am), learn to ID the dicot leaves of both PI and VC, so you can get rid of them before they get rooted.

Here is a pix of PI dicot:

VC seedlings have heart-shaped dicots that I often confuse with wild grape.
First year sleep. Second year creep. Third year leap!
