It grows wild all over my mountain yard.

I personally think it's about the prettiest and truest blue wild flower I've ever seen growing here in the Wasatch Range of the Rocky Mountains.

I'm looking for Axminster gold Comfrey.

This Penstemon prefers dry rocky landscape... does best in the partly shaded slopes. It will die if you put it in heavily moist soil or shade.

SpringGreen,

I thought I'd get a notification if anyone posted on this thread...but apparently not. I just happened to stop over to check it out because I hadn't heard anything. I will D-mail you.

Thanks!

After looking closer at the Database I am now concerned that the Wild Flower Penstemon growing on my mountain may not be that exact sub-species. I was told by my State Horticulture Dept. that they were "Rocky Mountain Blue Penstemon." when I sent the Wild Flower Dept. a picture.

However, the flower growing all over my mountain is TRUE BLUE!! Just as it is shown in the picture I posted. Confused

It is NOT purple as shown in most every other picture online as well as in the database. If you zoom in on my wild flower you will also see that the leaves on my Penstemon stem are more heart shaped and not the narrow thin shape of the plant shown in the Database.

I cannot find a Penstemon in the database that matches my TRUE BLUE blossom with heart shaped leaves. So I must conclude that my Wild Flower may be a Penstemon undocumented by the Horticulture dept. Honestly I've never seen it growing anywhere at all except for in my canyon. . Confused Confused

I apologize for that.
The sub-species of Penstemon that I have must not be what you are looking for.

I may need to contact Horticulture and let them know this plant does not appear to be Rocky Mountain Blue Penstemon, nor can I find any other descriptions/pictures like it online or in the native Wild Flower Database. Perhaps a rare Wild Penstemon growing alone in this canyon.... Confused

Those photos look like the RMPen I've grown in the past, to me.
