I have a mostly perennial garden and in the process of dividing plants and replanting, have used inexpensive DIY plant markers to keep track of where each plant resides. Using plastic knives, I write the name of the plant and bloom date with a permanent marker and stick it close to the center of the plant. Alternatively, I've recycled old mini-blinds cutting up the individual strips to make a pointed end.
I like repurposing things that are already in the house vs. buying more stuff.

This works well, but permanent markers do fade with sunlight and time. Renew the ID's before they fade completely away. I've started using a small label maker to make my ID markers. You can still use the plastic knives with them.

Excellent idea! I will definitely try this one.

@plantmanager- love the idea to use a label maker in lieu of a permanent marker. Will definitely give that a try Thank You!

Or regular led pencil works really well, and does not fade.
