I have about 40 still in pots and will plant them out in October when cooler and roots will not be disturbed. Recently received about 15 more that I will pot and shelter overwinter. Smiling

Yes, they do tend to sneak up on you, don't they? D'Oh!

I thought I had about 20 seedlings to pot up because they germinated late and are too small to be planted out (even if I had room Whistling ) and after potting up 30, I realised I still have about 20 left! D'Oh! Hilarious!

I haven't had time to count, but there were well over 100 left over from last year. Even though I thought I was using great restraint this year, I wasn't. Rolling on the floor laughing

With Tim at over 450 I think he is no amateur! Hilarious! He can join Sherry and Barbara in having full fledged pot cities.

450 Blinking I could never keep that many pots watered. Rolling on the floor laughing I an so glad others have more pots than I do. I worked on un-potting irises this year 'a lot' but the last order came very late (thought it was not coming at all) so I potted 15 more. *Blush*

Now I don't feel so bad. I got some (very) small orders in late, and a couple of generous members made sure that I had enough irises... nodding

So at least I have quite a few clean pots. Whistling

I just potted up 60 more little pieces yesterday. Whistling They are little backups of what I'm planting and some little gopher survivors. If the ones in the ground do well, the pots get emptied next year and the rhizomes are given away.

Cold, cloudy and windy...I can take the first two. It looks like it might rain.

I had an idea to put some of my irises in one of my Square Foot Gardens. (4' X 4') of which I had already removed the tomato plants.

No wonder the tomatoes weren't doing that well in that bed. I think that was the one that I had used bargain weed cloth. Well, there is an oak tree nearby, and since they didn't smell like pine roots, they must be oak. You know how an oak tree has many fine branches? This was the pattern of the roots in that box! None were over 1/2" thick, but so many I am surprised that any moisture could get to the bottom. Now I will probably have to dig that out every year until better weed cloth is put down underneath. Not an easy chore after the fact. I must admit, I did not clear it out completely this spring when planting my seedlings. I still had to pull apart every single handful.

I guess that I should have made up a big batch of potting soil and put them in pots, as some will have to go in there anyway. I had such high hopes for the day. But I guess that some days will be like that.

Tomorrow I go in for a root canal in the afternoon. I probably won't be doing much after that, but possibly in the morning if it isn't raining. Sticking tongue out

I guess I won't be in the iris garden tomorrow, as it is raining now, since early this evening.

High of 77 today, partly cloudy, with a 20% chance of rain, and it's windy here too. I don't like the wind either, but at least it's blowing the smoke away. Next week it goes back up to the mid 90's. Glare
