Hi, I have a bunch of perennials and herbs in pots that I want to bring inside the garage as they won't survive a canadian winter otherwise. How to I prepare them to be "overwintered"?

I prepare my potted plants for the winter by spraying the foliage with insecticidal soap. I also mix some (1/3 cup per gallon) and drench the soil. Repeated weekly for 2 or 3 weeks will kill anything hatching.
