Hello! I keep on killing my pansies. Last year I killed one, probably overwatering. This year I tried to keep two (in separate pots), and one died (but the other is thriving). The dead one was wilted seemingly instantly, within 3 days. I think there was drying out of the leaves so I suspected underwatering but both have been watered the same amount.

What am I doing wrong?

Don't know where you're located but pansies are not fond of high summer temps.

Yeah. Just because the local stores are sell pansies, I'm not buying any yet. It it still to warm here at 80F daytime. I'll wait to 60F daytime.

Thanks for your answers! I would wonder about that but it's quite cold here now, and I'm keeping these indoors where air conditioning is constant.

Is it possible that it's a rot of some kind? Would that be possible in individual potted plants?

Near an air conditioning vent is a plus. Maybe a moisture/dryness issue? If you can either stick your finger down into the soil (near the roots) or gently pull the plants from their pots, you may get a better idea of the moisture content beneath the surface. Did you fertilize these at all - perhaps too much?
